The Play Without Barriers Foundation (PWB Foundation) is a community-driven initiative committed to breaking down the barriers that limit access to sports, including soccer, swimming, hockey, and more, for Canadian residents. Our primary mission is to make sports affordable and accessible to disadvantaged youth by offering financial assistance.
We are on a mission to create opportunities for young Canadian residents, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent them from enjoying the benefits of sports. By enrolling children in various sports programs, we aim to open doors to personal growth, skill development, and a sense of belonging.
Together, we can empower the youth, build healthier communities, and inspire the next generation to reach their full potential through the unifying and enriching power of sports.

The Play Without Barriers (PWB) Foundation provides financial assistance to youth who are experiencing economic hardships, enabling them to join officially recognized sports programs. Our objective is to remove financial barriers that hinder young people from participating in sports, making sure that every child has the opportunity to be involved.
Eligibility
We take into account a family’s social and economic situation during eligibility assessments. Key factors we consider include:
- Low-income families
- On assured income for disability program (ex. AISH)
- Employment status
- Receiving income support from the provincial government
- Youth aged between 12-21
Scope
PWB Foundation offers grants of up to $500 per eligible child per calendar year (Jan 1 – Dec 31) for sport registration fees.
PWB grants do not cover:
- Travel expenses for competitions
- Programs led by unqualified instructors
